Dialogue - The Locket :: Dialogue Conversation Essays
Dialogue - The Locket At midnight, Paul went outside and sat on the bench on the old, plank porch. Despite bundling himself in a heavy blanket, he shivered in the cold. The eastern sky before him was dotted with stars, scintillating above the quiet spread of desert. A few lonely clouds were drifting by. Patricia timidly opened the door; hesitant to disrupt Paulââ¬â¢s solitude. As he glanced up at Patricia, she could see the melancholy in his eyes. ââ¬Å"What you said today at the funeral was beautiful,â⬠she murmured. Paul smiled sadly. ââ¬Å"I just wanted to tell you that. Good night.â⬠Paul extended his hand. ââ¬Å"Would you join me?â⬠Patricia took his hand and sat down on the bench next to him. Paul wrapped the blanket around her small shoulders. She turned to look at him. ââ¬Å"I suppose that I have never properly thanked you for saving my life. I am sorry for that. I was not sure then that I wished it saved.â⬠He thought about her words. ââ¬Å"What keeps you with him?â⬠he asked. It took a long time for her to answer. ââ¬Å"It is my lot.â⬠Paul frowned. ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s not much of an answer.â⬠ââ¬Å"No,â⬠she replied, ââ¬Å"but maybe thatââ¬â¢s all there is.â⬠ââ¬Å"Have you considered returning to Ireland?â⬠ââ¬Å"It is not a possibility.â⬠ââ¬Å"But if it were?â⬠ââ¬Å"No good comes from considering things that cannot be.â⬠Patricia was firm. Paul considered this a moment before speaking. ââ¬Å"I suppose youââ¬â¢re right. Where about in Ireland are you from anyway?â⬠ââ¬Å"I came from Cork.â⬠ââ¬Å"You do not carry much of a brogue.â⬠ââ¬Å"I have worked hard to eliminate my brogue. Jack mocks me for it, and there are those in this country who hate me for it.â⬠ââ¬Å"It is unfortunate,â⬠Paul said. ââ¬Å"I think that it sounds beautiful.â⬠Her gratitude and pleasure showed in her eyes. Paul glanced downward and noticed her petite fingers nervously playing with a locket that hung around her neck. The locket was cast in the shape of a four-leaf clover. It was unique, and she wore it religiouslyââ¬âit was almost as if she had been born with the necklace around her neck. It was as much a part of her as her deep auburn hair and green eyes. ââ¬Å"I have heard it said of Cork, that the sky does not rain, it weeps,â⬠Paul continued. ââ¬Å"It is a beautiful, tragic land,â⬠Patricia replied.

Dramatic Devices in An Inspector Calls :: J.B. Priestly
An inspector calls Dramatic Devices An Inspector Calls is a play written by J.B Priestly in 1945 however it is set in 1912. An Inspector calls is a thriller set in England. This was a very difficult time for several reasons. In 1912 it was a time where people were just greedy and selfish. Priestly wrote this play because he was concerned that the world that he and others was living in was a place of disgust and that people could do better. To tender all these wounds in the world Priestly wrote this to show that there is enough time to repair these problems and be as bright as possible for the future. The play makes us question ourselves and what sort of a character we would prefer to be. In 1912 it was a time of inequality. In fact there was a really big gap between the rich and poor, in the time if you were really rich, you were stated as really lucky, but for the poor it was a really different story. They had low wages and had difficulty on surviving on the money they were given. One of the most important themes in An Inspector Calls responsibility for other peopleââ¬â¢s welfare, and that wealthy people have obligations to look after those less fortunate than themselves. J. B. Priestley uses the inspector to express his views to people. One more of Priestleyââ¬â¢s reasons for writing this play was to show how people were behaving at the time. He wrote this play to reflect what people were really like and what they thought. The Birling family are rich and they look down on the lower-class as less than human make no difference to society. Mr. Birling believes he just needs to look after for himself, but Priestley doesnââ¬â¢t agree with this. All of the characters that are sitting down to dinner are responsible for the death of one girl Eva Smith, but not all of them think about their responsibilities, Birling feels that everyone has to look after themselves. Priestley partly shows what he is trying to say by showing Mr. Birling a proud man to be in so much error about so many things, such as the unsinkable Titanic ship and the two world wars not going to happen the audience would know that he is wrong. This is a device which Priestley uses called dramatic irony which is essential to the play because itââ¬â¢s based on the world wars and the titanic sinking.

Partnership Essay
Q-1Define Partnership and explain the features of Partnership? Ans. A partnership is the relationship existing between two or more persons who join to carry on a trade or business. Each person contributes money, property, labor or skill, and expects to share in the profits and losses of the business. A partnership must file an annual information return to report the income, deductions, gains, losses, etc., from its operations, but it does not pay income tax. Instead, it ââ¬Å"passes throughâ⬠any profits or losses to its partners. Each partner includes his or her share of the partnershipââ¬â¢s income or loss on his or her tax return. Partners are not employees and should not be issued a Form W-2. The partnership must furnish copies of Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) to the partners by the date Form 1065 is required to be filed, including extensions. If you are a partnership or a partner (individual) in a partnership, use the information in the charts below to help you determine som e of the forms that you may be required to file. a)The main features of partnership are given below: 1.Agreement There must be agreement between the parties concerned. This is the most important characteristics of partnership. Without agreement partnership cannot be formed. ââ¬Å"No agreement no partnership.â⬠But only competent persons are entitled to make a contract. There are some provisions contained in the partnership agreement. These are determined clearly before the commencement of business. But it differs from business to business. This documents may be written or oral. But it must be written so that disputes may be settled according to the provisions of agreement. 2.Number of Partnership There should be more than one person to form a partnership. But there is restriction for the maximum number of partners. In case of ordinary business, the partners must not exceed 20 and in case of banking must not exceed 10 (before nationalization). 3.Business The object of the formation of partnership is to carryon any type of business. It may be manufacturing or merchandise type small or large scale business. But it should not be illegal business in the country concerned. 4.Profit motive The basic motive of the formation of partnership is to earn profit. This profit is distributed among the partners according to agreed proportion. If there is loss it will be sustained by all partners except the minor. 5.Conduct of Business The business of partnership is conducated by all the partners or any or them acting for all. But each partner is allowed to participate in the management by law. 6.Entity It has no separate entity apart from its members. It is not independent of the partners. Law has not granted it any legal entity. 7.Unlimited liability This is the prominent feature of partnership that the liability of each partner is not limited to the amount invested but his private property is also liable to pay the business obligations. 8.Investment Each partner contributes his share in the capital according to the agreement. Some persons become partners without investing any capital to the business. But they devote their time, energy and ability to their business instead of capital and receive profit. 9.Transferability of share There is restriction to transfer the share from one partner to another person without the consent of existing partners. So the investment in the partnership remains confined into few hands. 10.Position One partner is an agent as well as principal to other partner. He can bind the other person by his act. In the position of an agent he can make contract with another person or parties on behalf of his concerned firm. 11.Mutual Confidence The business of the partnership cannot be conducted successfully without the element of mutual confidence and cooperation of partners. So the members must have trust and confidence in each other. 12.Free Operation There are no strict rules and regulations to control the partnership activities in our country i.e. no restriction for the audit of accounts, submission of various reports and other copies to any government authority. So this organization may operate freely without any interference. Q-2Explain the advantages and disadvantages of Partnership? Ans.The main advantages and disadvantages can be explained as: ââ¬â a) Advantages of Partnership Partnership is preferred to other forms of business due to the following advantageous points. 1.Ease of Organization Partnership can be organized without any legal formalities. There is no license fee, registration fee, registration fee for the formation of this type of organization. No formal documents are required to be submitted to the Registrarââ¬â¢s Office. Two or more persons may start this type of business at any time. But the formation of the Joint Stock Company is needed long complicated process. 2.Sufficient Capital In the sole proprietorship the capital remains limited but this problem does not arise in the partnership firm due to number of partners i.e. 20 in ordinary business and 10 banking business. As such partner contributes his share in the business so capital volume can be sufficiently increased for business activities. 3.Borrowing Facilities The partnership firm is considered safe organization for providing credit facilities due to unlimited liability of partners. Thus sufficient funds in terms of credit can be: procured from financial institutions or other sources in time of need. 4.Simplicity in Dissolution There are no complicated legal requirements for the dissolution of the partnership firm. Partners may dissolve their business very easily at any time. On the other side, Joint Stock Company cannot be dissolved without fulfillment of the long process of the company ordinance 1984. 5.Combined Abilities A firm may enjoy the combined abilities of several heads. There may be different abilities of partners i.e. purchaser, administrator, accountant and Technician. So the firm is in a position to utilize their services for product1ve purposes. 6.Skilled Workers As the firm enjoys larger financial sources therefore, it is possible for the organization to hire the services of qualified and competent persons for indefinite period of time. Thus capital and financial sources of firm may be utilized maximum in profitable sector. 7.Minority Protection Minority protection in a partnership cannot be neglected by law. All the policy matters are decided with the consent of each partner. If any matter is disposed of without the willingness of one partner, the dis-agreement partner may withdraw his share and may dissolve the firm. Thus there is no risk of any conspiracy against the minority partners on behalf of the majority partners. 8.Personal Interest The partnership firm is in a better position in respect of personal element as compared with Joint Stock Company. As number of members in ordinary business cannot exceed 20, so all the benefit is confined among these partners. This factor creates the effective motivation to efficiency, economy, production and strong financial position. 9.Minimum Legal Restrictions This form of organization is fee from following restrictions: (a)Declaration of Profit. (b)Submission of the Report to the Registrarââ¬â¢s office. (c)To audit the annual accounts. (d)To call the meeting. (e)To dispose of the Resolution. (f)To maintain the statutory books. (g)To publish certain statements. On the other hand, public company has to follow strictly the above mentioned restrictions by law. But partnership may operate freely without interference from any legal authority. 10.Public Trust People show more confidence on partnership firm than sole tradership. If firm is registered they think .these are working under the supervision of the government. So people feel no risk in creating relation with such business. Thus goodwill is established in the market which increases the income earning capacity of the firm. 11.Expansion of Business There are more chances to expand the business volume due to the following factors: (a)Large number of partners. (b)Combine judgment and abilities. (c)Personal interest of each partner. (d)Fore-sight element due to unlimited liability. (e)Administrative and technical abilities. (f)Borrowing facilities. But some important factor are not found in sole tradership. So its business cannot be expanded comparatively. 12.Flexible Management This organization is considered flexible as compared with Joint Stock Company. Partners can change their business policy with mutual consultation. They thus make immediate decision, since there is no necessity of disposing of resolution. The quickness of action is the most important element in the field of management as well as in marketing. 13.Secrecy As there is no compulsion to publish its accounts for partnership firm so the business secrecy remains confined within the partners. This sector is important for successful operation of the business. But Public Company has to publish all types of accounts by law. 14.Moral Promotion Partnership is the best organization for small investors and to show themselves the proprietors of the firm. This factor promotes the moral courage of partners.

Analytical Hierarchy Process Essay Example for Free (#2)
Analytical Hierarchy Process Essay The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) provides a structure on decision-making processes where there are a limited numbers of choices but each has a number of attributes. This paper explores the use of AHP for deciding on car purchase. In the context of shopping, it is important to include elements that provide attributes that make consumer decision making easier, comfortable and therefore, lead to a car purchase. As the car market becomes more competitive, there is a greater demand for innovation that provides better customer service and strategic competition in the business management. This paper presents a new methodological extension of the AHP by focusing on two issues. One combines pair wise comparison with a spreadsheet method using a 5-point rating scale. The other applies the group weight to a reciprocal consistency ratio. Three newly formed car models of midsize are used to show how the method allows choice to be prioritized and analyzed statistically. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a structured technique for helping people deal with complex decisions. Rather than prescribing a ââ¬Å"correctâ⬠decision, the AHP helps people to determine one. Based on mathematics and human psychology, it was developed by Thomas L. Saaty in the 1970s and has been extensively studied and refined since then. The AHP provides a comprehensive and rational framework for structuring a problem, for representing and quantifying its elements, for relating those elements to overall goals, and for evaluating alternative solutions. It is used throughout the world in a wide variety of decision situations, in fields such as government, business, industry, healthcare, and education. Users of the AHP first decompose their decision problem into a hierarchy of more easily comprehended sub-problems, each of which can be analyzed independently. The elements of the hierarchy can relate to any aspect of the decision problem. Once the hierarchy is built, the decision makers systematically evaluate its various elements, comparing them to one another in pairs. In making the comparisons, the decision makers can use concrete data about the elements, or they can use their judgments about the elementsââ¬â¢ relative meaning and importance. It is the essence of the AHP that human judgments, and not just the underlying information, can be used in performing the evaluations. The AHP converts these evaluations to numerical values that can be processed and compared over the entire range of the problem. A numerical weight or priority is derived for each element of the hierarchy, allowing diverse and often incomm-ensurable elements to be compared to one another in a rational and consistent way. This capability distinguishes the AHP from other decision making techniques. In the final step of the process, numerical priorities are derived for each of the decision alternatives. Since these numbers represent the alternativesââ¬â¢ relative ability to achieve the decision goal, they allow a straightforward consideration of the various courses of action. For instance letââ¬â¢s consider cars (an example) which touch the lives of hundreds of millions of people nearly everywhere on this planet on a daily basis. Other than a house, a car is perhaps the largest purchase that we make. With the average cost of a car well over US$ 15,000, choosing just the right one becomes a major decision. Buying a new car is regarded as a decision-making problem and a reflection of customer preference. Someone shops for a new car, he or she want to take a look at finances and options. The possible budget is then a constraint in the decision on which car to buy. Most people shopping for a new car rank safety high among their purchase considerations. Other important attributes include: fuel economy; comfort and convenience features; insurance information; specification and warranties and resale value. Constant changes in customer demands lead manufactures to produce new and improved designs. Automation of manufacturing technologies allows this. Recently the production life cycle has become shorter. For example, General Motors in the USA is leading the industry in developing ground-breaking technologies to improve the driving experience and to meet the changing needs and life styles of modern drivers. They are making efforts to lower the cost of the technology to a level that will make advanced cars an attractive purchase. As the automobile market becomes more competitive, the industry has no choice but to adopt innovation that brings better customer service. Many customers seek advice from car experts or friends when purchasing a car. In many cases, there are times when the price and special features do not match the budget. An appropriate decision-making method for selecting the best car is useful to both customers and producers. An analytic method not only reduces the dealerââ¬â¢s burden, but also may increase sales The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is an intuitively easy method for formulating and analyzing decisions .It was developed to solve a specific class of problems that involves prioritization of potential alternate solutions. This is achieved by evaluation of a set of criteria elements and sub-criteria elements through a series of pair wise comparisons. The AHP model depicted in this paper uses the following decision criteria: exterior, convenience, performance, safety, economic aspect, dealer, and warranty as well as 39 sub-criteria. For the implementation of the AHP, we considered the three midsize passenger car models as alternatives The source for deriving the evaluation criteria candidate was: 1. A telephone interview with dealers who are part of companies that make the models. The manufacturing company with the highest market share considered graceful body styles and smart design of facilities related to safety to be most important. On the other hand, warranty on the car and the dealerââ¬â¢s strategies for marketing are regarded as important customer criteria; 2. The use of personal experiences recorded on an online bulletin board was corrected using the Internet; The AHP model shown consists of three levels. Exterior involves components and factors seen from the outside such as color, length and width, tyres, trunk, wheels, doors and headlamp styles. It includes the following sub-criteria: model, style, length, quality of interior decoration, number of available color types, and instrument cluster. Convenience is related to the design of the equipments for easy operation. It includes: inside width, ease of loading or unloading packages, convenience of operating instruments, modern fittings (such as electronic systems and a burglar alarm), forward visibility and quality of the audio system. Performance is related to the functioning of the car. It includes maximum torque, maximum speed, fuel tank capacity, braking ability, cornering ability, inside noises and traveling comforts. Safety is enhanced by a body designed to protect the drivers and passengers against collisions. The most important safety features are those that reduce the risk of death or serious injury. It includes: airbags, antilock braking system ABS, impact protection systems, trunk safety, seat belts, safety of the body and number of alarm facilities. Airbags provide total chest and face protection. The ABS allows drivers full steering control and shorter stopping distance in adverse situations. The economic aspect refers to the price and cost of a new car, or maintaining the car within budgets, etc. It includes: purchasing prices, fuel consumption per month, insurance costs and installment conditions, resale prices of used cars and optional equipment costs. The dealer criterion refers to personal characteristics and attitudes that lead the customer to make the purchasing decision. This criterion includes: visits or calls needed to persuade the customer to buy, the dealerââ¬â¢s attitude, the dealerââ¬â¢s expertise and belief in the dealerââ¬â¢s promises. The warranty criterion include: the number of service stations, ease of acquiring spare parts, customer satisfaction after services, and the average repair time for minor troubles. We mailed questionnaires to each of two groups. The first group was given a questionnaire that contained a pair wise comparison sheet. The members consisted of 13 managers who were serving in the sales department and who had experience exceeding 10 years (see Appendix A for this questionnaire). Respondents were domain experts who easily recognized their own sales products and have valuable knowledge about the customer requirements and preferences. Twenty-two potential customers with experience over 7 years were in the second group (see Appendix B). They answered about their satisfaction with their current car. A procedure of prioritizing each car model is shown in Table 1 shows the C.R. for each individual, where the circle represents meaningful C.R. Using Expert Choice, we obtained the synthesized priorities of the main criteria and sub-criteria. The reason that the groupââ¬â¢s weight is 1/C.R. is to assign higher weights for higher consistent persons. As a result, safety gains are the highest priority in the main criteria. The body safety is especially important. The synthesized priorities and ranks resulted in Table 2 (Case-II). The priorities of the sub-criteria are not proportional to those of the main criteria. This means the decision-makers have different opinions on the importance of the main criteria. By synthesizing the driversââ¬â¢ rating values with the priorities, we obtain the priorities of the car models and the ranks with respect to the goal and synthesized priorities for each main criterion when the C.R. is bounded by the limit (see Table 3). In Case-I and Case-II, the computational methods used are reasonable when the groupsââ¬â¢ consistency is more important than the individual ones. Because the conventional AHP has no choice but to increase the Delphi rounds in order to increase the groupsââ¬â¢ consistency, much effort is required to reduce the C.R. If the Delphi rounds are not sufficiently processed, it is unreliable through the inclusion of inconsistent matrices [12]. Using the Spearman rank correlation test [1], accepting H0 means that the ranks are either uncorrelated or negatively correlated. That is, two decision makers exhibit an insignificant level of agreement in ranking for each criterion. Rejecting H0 means that the ranks are positively correlated. As shown in Table 4, we conclude that there are significant effects between groups since the rate of the H0 acceptance is 83% (65/78 Ãâ"100). This shows that Case-I is the more appropriate method. It rejects greater agreement between groups. Sensitivity analysis allowed us to verify the results of the decision. A sensitivity analysis can be formed to see how sensitive the alternatives are to change with the importance of the criteria. The Expert Choice implementation of AHP provides four graphical sensitivity analysis modes: dynamic, gradient, performance and two-dimensional analysis [4]. Here performance sensitivity analysis is employed. It depicts how well each alternative performs on each criterion by increasing or decreasing the importance of the criteria. In addition to this, each sub-criterion performs on each main criterion by increasing or decreasing the importance of the main criteria. It should be noted that if a criterion is not sensitive, it would be better to eliminate it from the AHP model. In the case of increasing importance of a criterion to the maximum value of 1.0, we assigned the alternative that gained the highest rank to score 5 and the lowest rank to score 1. The value of Model 1 is 25, Model 2 is 21 and Model 3 is 15. In summary, we can conclude Model 1 is the best among the alternatives, although the highest priorities were different in Case-I and Case-II. This paper presents a decision-making method for selecting the best passenger car models through combining the AHP and a spreadsheet model. The C.R. is used as the decision-makerââ¬â¢s weights. As an implementation of the AHP, three car models were prioritized. Through the sensitivity analysis, the fact that Model 1 ranked the highest is consistent with the result of the highest market share. E.H. Forman, T.L. Saaty, M.A. Selly, R. Administrative law in Britain Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Administrative law in Britain - Essay Example British Administrative Law is a part of British public law. It involves law pertaining to the control and authority of British departmental agencies or those agencies that are given constitutional power by the administration (Leyland and Anthony, 2008, 45) There is great popularity of such law reforms in most of the countries, however, they have been extensively criticised too. Main constituents of British Administrative Law are Ombudsmen, Tribunals, Judicial review and Freedom of Information. Ombudsman According to the Administrative law post of Ombudsman is connected to the Parliament of Westminster and some other posts at the Parliament of Scotland, some of the government institutions and Welsh Assembly. The main responsibility of Ombudsman is to inspect problems of malpractices of administration. Tribunals This constituent of British Administrative Law includes numbers of local public bodies, which are also called non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs). Judicial review This conte nt of British administrative law includes supervision of implementation of general public power by the Administrative Courts. If someone feels that an act of a government body, for instance his/ her local council or a constitutional court, is against the law, or it has dishonoured his/her civil rights, they may register a complaint at the Administrative Court (which is a branch of High Court) for legal reassessment of the decision and get their problem solved or perhaps take compensation. (Leyland and Anthony, 2008, 35) ... Nevertheless, the basic aim and objective of both these Acts is well indistinguishable ââ¬â same sort of public bodies that are included in Britain, Northern Ireland and Wales are also included in Scotland Act. . (Leyland and Anthony, 2008, 42) Moreover, its basic terms and conditions are very closed to each other, despite the fact that the Freedom of Information Act of Scotland is a little stronger than English Act in support of disclosing information. But Freedom of Information Act 2000 is not applicable for public bodies in the foreign territories. (Barnett, 2004, 221) The former Prime Minister Tony Blair who actually brought main idea of the Freedom of Information Act, showed his disappointed from the Act afterwards. According to him, this Act obstructs the capacity of government officials to act under a sensible level of privacy. Implementation of the Administrative Law is seen as a major constitutional change that has been implemented in the course of past few years. Number s of changes have also taken place within British House of Commons too, like pre-legislative trials are now given much more importance, select committees have been made much stronger, change in work hours etc. This is not possible to do justice to all the reforms, however this is a major thing that it is an obligation for the British Prime Minister to present himself at the Liaison Select Committee of the House two times in every year to be questioned about any subject whatsoever. Critics have shown their reservations on the commitment to this sort of well-planned constitutional programme. UK Administrative and Constitutional Law have remarkably changed since year 1997. (Barnett, 2004, 225) There are several public bodies too, whose resolutions can also be

Integration of reality into the works of william hogarth in the Research Paper
Integration of reality into the works of william hogarth in the eighteenth century - Research Paper Example This brief essay will work to analyze the ways in which William Hogarthââ¬â¢s works during eighteenth century Europe engendered many such forms of tacit transmission as well as seeking to incorporate elements of political, fictional and religious motifs. It should be noted that although this analysis will look at many of Hogarthââ¬â¢s works, it will not be specific to pointing out every layer of double entendre that might exist; rather, the research will be concentric on understanding and grappling with the major trends that Hogarth worked to enumerate upon within each of the pieces which will be analyzed. As such, the following research will be divided into sections which work to analyze the different means of conveyance that Hogarth employed as well as seeking to detail the specific motifs and themes that these means of conveyance sought to impress upon the viewer. The first of these paintings which will be analyzed was painted in 1754 and entitled, ââ¬Å"An Election: Chairi ng Memberâ⬠. This painting is extraordinarily unique due to the fact that it incorporates a host of both political, cultural, and religious motifs that bear discussion as a means of understanding some of the diverse themes and emotions that the artist was attempting to convey. The first of these themes is the pied piper that can be seen in front of the gathering of rowdy townspeople. In this way, all of the action and movement is behind this piper. Such a prominent exhibition in the foreground of the photo evokes the strong sense that Hogarth is attempting to convey to the reader. This strong sense is concentric around the fact that even though elections can be understood as an expressions of a participatory nature, the fact of the matter is that people still behave as if in a group and in a senseless manner. This cultural theme of the pied piper is further illustrated in a religious context by the inclusion of a small group of swine directly in the process of running off the s ide of the bridge that is pictured. This of course is reminiscent of the unclean spirits that Christ cast into the group of swine in Samaria that subsequently threw themselves into the Sea of Galilee. As such, the artist makes a firm connection between the religious imagery depicted and the cultural imagery of the pied piper. By presenting high levels of nuanced detail, Hogarth was able to evoke imagery that sought to express various elements within current society as well as to impress upon the reader a host of ideas and correlations that other artists did not. Furthermore, the artist seeks to convey an image that depicts the ridiculous nature of democracy in the form that it existed during his time. In this way, the artist seeks to represent the citizens in the foreground and the background as zealots that feverishly push and pull for the given belief system of their choice and fight against those that defy such a belief system.
